Channel steel, characterized by its distinctive fluted section, is a versatile, long strip of carbon structural steel with a complex profile. Its unique groove shape makes it indispensable for building structures, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment, and vehicle manufacturing. Often used in conjunction with I-beams, channel steel is available in both ordinary U-steel and light channel steel. The specifications for hot-rolled ordinary channel steel range from 5-40#, while hot-rolled flexible channel steel can be customized between 6.5-30# based on agreements between purchasers and suppliers. Channel steel can be classified into four distinctive types based on shape: cold bending equilateral U-steel, cold bending unequal side channel steel, cold bending inner edge coil channel steel, and cold bending outer edge coil U-steel.
