Carbon Steel Manufacturing Process
The smelting of carbon steel is usually carried out in converter and open hearth furnaces. Converters are typically employed to smelt ordinary carbon steel, whereas open hearth furnaces are versatile and capable of producing various high-quality steels. The rapidly advancing oxygen top-blow converter technology is set to replace traditional open hearth furnaces. The refined liquid steel is then poured into ingot molds to create various ingots. These ingots are subsequently forged or rolled into plates, strips, bars, and sections with diverse sectional shapes. Carbon steel is often utilized in its hot-rolled state. For applications such as manufacturing tools and various machine parts, carbon steel undergoes heat treatment according to specific requirements. Steel castings generally also undergo heat treatment to achieve desired properties.
