Channel steel is a distinctive, elongated strip of steel featuring a fluted section. As a profile steel with a complex cross-section, it is primarily composed of carbon structural steel used in construction and mechanical applications. The channel steel's section is shaped like a groove, making it indispensable in building structures, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment, and vehicle manufacturing. It is frequently utilized alongside I-beam steel. Channel steel is available in two main types: standard u-steel and light channel steel. The specifications for hot-rolled standard channel steel range from 5# to 40#, whereas hot-rolled flexible channel steel is available in sizes from 6.5# to 30#, subject to agreement between the purchaser and the supplier.
Channel steel can be classified into four distinct types based on shape: cold-bending equilateral u-steel, cold-bending unequal side channel steel, cold-bending inner edge coil channel steel, and cold-bending outer edge coil u-steel.
