The Exceptional Smelting of Premium Carbon Steel The production of premium carbon steel is traditionally conducted in converter and open hearth furnaces. Converters are typically employed for smelting ordinary carbon steel, whereas open hearth furnaces are reserved for high-quality steel varieties. The rapidly advancing technology of oxygen top-blown converters has the potential to replace conventional open hearth furnaces. Refined liquid steel is meticulously poured into ingot molds, transforming into various forms. Post forging or rolling, these ingots are crafted into plates, strips, bars, and sections with diverse shapes. While carbon steel is often utilized in its hot rolled state, it undergoes heat treatment for manufacturing tools and machine parts to meet specific requirements. Steel castings, in particular, commonly receive heat treatment.
