Carbon Steel Manufacturing Process
The smelting of carbon steel is traditionally performed in converters and open hearth furnaces. The technology of oxygen top-blown converters is advancing rapidly, making it a viable replacement for the open hearth process. The refined liquid steel is cast into ingot molds to produce various ingot forms. Post-ingot casting involves forging or rolling to create plates, strips, bars, and sections of diverse shapes. Carbon steel is commonly utilized in its hot-rolled state. For tool manufacturing and various machine parts, heat treatment is conducted to meet specific requirements. Steel castings often undergo heat treatment for enhanced performance.
