Refined Carbon Steel Manufacturing Process
The smelting process of carbon steel is traditionally executed in converter and open hearth furnaces. Converters primarily smelt ordinary carbon steel, while open hearth furnaces are versatile, smelting a broad range of high-quality steels. The rapidly advancing technology of oxygen top-blown converters is poised to replace open hearth furnaces altogether. Refined liquid steel is meticulously poured into ingot molds to form various ingots. These ingots, once forged or rolled, can be transformed into plates, strips, bars, and sections of diverse sectional shapes. Carbon steel is often utilized directly in its hot-rolled state. However, when intended for manufacturing tools and various machine parts, it undergoes specific heat treatments tailored to usage requirements. Steel castings, in most cases, are also subjected to heat treatments to enhance their properties.
