Carbon Steel Manufacturing Process
The Smelting of Carbon Steel Carbon steel smelting is primarily conducted in converters and open hearth furnaces. Converters are typically used for smelting ordinary carbon steel, whereas open hearth furnaces are more versatile, handling various high-quality steels. The advancement of oxygen top-blow converter technology is rapidly phasing out traditional open hearth methods. Refined liquid steel is poured into ingot molds to form diverse ingots. These ingots, once subjected to forging or rolling, are transformed into plates, strips, bars, and sections with various cross-sectional shapes. Carbon steel is most commonly utilized in its hot-rolled state. For manufacturing tools and machine parts, it undergoes specific heat treatments as required. Steel castings predominantly undergo heat treatment to enhance their properties.
