Typically comprising 0.5% to 4.5% silicon, the inclusion of silicon significantly enhances the resistivity and maximum permeability of the iron. This results in reduced coercivity, iron loss, and magnetic aging, making it an indispensable material in electrical applications.

Distinguishing Oriented Silicon Steel from Non-Oriented Silicon Steel
Non-Oriented Silicon Steel: This ferrosilicon alloy boasts an extremely low carbon content. In annealed steel plates, the grains exhibit a random distribution. The alloy contains 1.5% to 3.0% silicon, or a combination of silicon and aluminum totaling 1.8% to 4.0%. These products, typically in the form of cold-rolled sheets or strips, are primarily utilized in the manufacturing of motors and generators.
