Carbon Steel Manufacturing Process
The smelting of carbon steel is typically conducted in converters and open hearth furnaces. Converters are generally used to smelt ordinary carbon steel, whereas open hearth furnaces are employed for a variety of high-quality steels. The advent and rapid development of oxygen top-blow converter technology is significantly replacing the traditional open hearth furnaces. The refined liquid steel is poured into ingot molds to produce various ingots. These ingots are then forged or rolled into plates, strips, bars, and various sectional shapes. Carbon steel is often utilized directly in its hot-rolled state. For manufacturing tools and diverse machine parts, it requires heat treatment tailored to specific application requirements. Additionally, steel castings generally undergo heat treatment.
